Ogunbote admits title pressure on Enugu Rangers

Enugu Rangers head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has admitted that the Flying Antelopes are under pressure to maintain the form that has made them a very difficult team to beat since the beginning of the season.

The Flying Antelopes have only been beaten once in the 14 games they have played and they have opened up a six point buffer between them and second placed Enyimba, with 31 points as against 25 for the People’s Elephant.

Ogunbote in his pre-match chat before today’s game with Bendel Insurance admitted that it has been hard for the team to keep up with the pressure associated with being at the top of the league table but that he trusts his players not to be overwhelmed by it.

“I must confess that it is becoming a big pressure for us maintaining our position on the league but we are condemned to take the pressure and keep our heads high,” Ogunbote told the club media.

Sincerely, I must say that there is nothing really I have done to the team other than letting the players know of what we stand to gain together especially with our continental participation. Also, I had to put in the players a winning mentality.

“On the Insurance game, we will do our best. When we get to the venue, we will know how to approach the match. We hope to come back with a positive result in as much as we get a level playing field with regards to officiating.”
