Ogunbote: Rangers will make a positive statement

Enugu Rangers head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has revealed that the Flying Antelopes are bent on making a significant statement by the time the curtain falls on the NPFL Championship Playoffs next week.

Rangers will make a positive statement

The Flying Antelopes started on the wrong footing when they were beaten by a lone goal by Enyimba on Tuesday but they bounced back in style to inflict a 2-1 defeat on the league reigning champions, Lobi
Stars on Thursday.

Ogunbote told journalists at the Agege Stadium, Lagos that he still believes that a lot will still happen before the remaining three matches are concluded and that he and his players will like to make the best use of the opportunity to relaunch themselves back into reckoning.

“We started the game very well. We had our way of doing things and in the second half, we expected them to come out because they were two goals down,” Ogunbote told the media.

“We expected them to want to rush at us and just wanted to absorb the pressure and play on the counter. We had it if my boys had taken their chances. We wasted as many as four chances that could have ensured that we wrapped up the game but be it as it may, the final result was 2-1 in our favour.

“I think I still remember what I said two days ago that our loss against Enyimba was just a temporary setback for us and that we are going to bounce back.
“This is just the beginning and the game is not over until it is over. We have three games to go and with three games it takes a lot to make a statement.”
