Okafor ready to swap Switzerland for Nigeria

FC Basle wonder kid, Noah Okafor has declared his readiness to represent Nigeria in the nearest future as he idolises Super Eagles legends Nwankwo Kanu and Austin Okocha.

The 17-year-old, who is a member of the Switzerland U-18 team, is highly rated in Europe with many pundits already tipping him to become the next Kylian Mbappe.

Okafor revealed that it will be great to play for the three-time African Champions and make his family proud.

“Everybody wants to represent the Super Eagles of Nigeria especially watching Kanu Nwankwo and Austin Jay Jay Okocha who are my idols while growing up,” he told SportingLife.

“It will surely be a dream come true. I also have family in Nigeria and they will really be happy seeing me represent Nigeria.”

Okafor is currently involved in the UEFA Youth League for Basle and has scored two goals with four assists in five matches but he has bigger dreams, having just signed his first professional contract with the Swiss club.

“I feel grateful to sign with the Club. It’s more than an honour be part of such a wonderful club like FC Basel.

“I plan on achieving League titles and also cup titles too and also planning my Champions League debut.”
