Okereke guides Venezia to first Serie A win of the season

 

David Okereke was the hero for Italian Serie A new boys Venezia football club, as he found the back of the net, in their 2-1 away victory over Empoli FC.

Okereke recently joined the team from Belgian champions Club Brugge and he’s already living up to the hype that sorrounded his transfer.

The Nigerian international started from the bench, and he was exceptional after being introduced in the second half.

Okereke was thrown into the thick of the action in the 68th minute. The Nigerian midfielder took the place of Italian star Antonio Vacca.

Thomas Henry opened scoring for the away team in the 13th minutes after receiving an assist from Mattia Aramu to end the first half.

David Okereke doubled the advantage few minutes after his introduction, thanks to another assist from Thomas Henry.

Nedim Bajrami reduced the deficit for Empoli and game ended the match 2-1 in favor of Vanezia.

The victory over Empoli FC was Venezia’s first of the season and it was enough to move them 12th spot of the Italian serie A table with 3 points from 3 matches played.
