Aina played at the two different roles for the Super Eagles during their campaign at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation in Egypt.
He started as the left-back when he stand-in for the injured Jamilu Collins but he played in his normal position in the third-place clash against Tunisia.
Out of the  23 players that the team head coach Gernot Rohr took to Egypt, only three players- captain Mikel Obi, Ahmed Musa, and Kenneth Omeruo- had AFCON experience while the remaining 20 players have their first AFCON experience.
The Torino of Italy defender said that if the team is keeping working together they can be one of the best teams.
“We had a good run in the tournament. Yeah, if we continue working hard together and with this kind of players coming to the team. I think it is very promising,” Aina told SportingLife.ng.
The former Chelsea defender said he and his colleagues tried their best to win more than a bronze medal at the tournament.
“They were a good side. They worked hard and we work hard. We really wanted to go home with a medal or something. I think that was the difference against Tunisia. How I am personally, I am not happy with the bronze because l expected more, we all expected more but it is good that we didn’t go home empty-handed,” He added.
