Olanrewaju Durodola wants Cruiserweight Title

Nigerian boxer Olanrewaju “Gods Power” Durodola is determined to clinch a Cruiserweight title later in the year and show to the world the giant steps boxing has grown in the country.

Durodola spoke to The Nation at the Sports Hall, Police College Ikeja on Tuesday Night after he knocked out Michael Godwin in the second round in his return to the ring after his loss to undefeated Michal Cieslak in Poland in May.
With the undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk forfeiting his titles to compete at the heavyweight division, the four major belts in the cruiserweight division are up for grabs and Durodola wants a chance to fight for them.
He said: “Winning a cruiserweight title for Nigerians is my target for the year. I am a top ranked boxer and I am ready to fight for a belt.
“I have waited a long time for a chance like this and I believe I will shock the world as I did when I beat Dmitry Kudryashov in 2015.”
“Boxing in Nigeria, amateur and professional, has made giant strides these last few years and I want to contribute my own quota to the success of boxing,” Durodola added.
Durodola, an ex-Olympian, and currently serving in the Nigerian Police Force, has won 30 times (28 knockouts) and lost seven times since his professional debut in 2011.
He has held the World Boxing Council (WBC) Silver Cruiser, WBC Continental Americas Cruiser, World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Cruiser Titles and is currently holds the World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Cruiser belt after he beat Maroy Sadiki at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos last year.
