Ole to embattled van de Beek: Wait for your time

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits Donny van de Beek is “disappointed and frustrated” with his situation at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman reacted furiously towards the end of the Red Devils’ 2-1 victory over Villarreal late last month when Solskjaer chose to bring on Fred and Jesse Lingard over him.

There have already been rumours since the incident that Van de Beek will attempt to leave the club again in the January transfer window after only playing five minutes of Premier League football this season.

He was reportedly denied a late summer loan move to Everton with Solskjaer keen to use him more this campaign.

However, it hasn’t worked out like that and Van de Beek reacted to not coming on against Villarreal by throwing his used chewing gum on the ground.

In a sarcastic response to the incident, Solskjaer told Voetbal International: “It’s wiser to throw away your chewing gum and not to swallow it, we learned that as children. And giving your chewing gum to someone else is not possible in these corona times either. Sensible, so I could see he was throwing it away.”

Van de Beek’s situation at Man Utd, Solskjaer added: “When you see our team, you know we have good players. I hope for Donny that he gets his chances and then takes them. Now I didn’t need him, but I know I can always count on him.
