Olympic Eagles star rates Egyptian league high

Former Pyramids of Egypt  midfielder, Okechukwu Azubuike, has lauded the Egyptian Premier League (EPL) as the best league in Africa.

The 22-year-old player is part of the Nigeria squad which is participating at the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Azubuike joined EPL side Pyramids from Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor in 2018 but he struggled for game time.

“I played for six months in Egypt and it’s a good platform to play in. The Egyptian league is one of the best in Africa,” Azubuike said on King Fut.

“Egypt is a great host. We want to win the title as it’s as important for us as reaching the Olympics. I didn’t play against Ivory Coast because I was still with my club.”

“We delivered good performance thus far. I am a part of the team and we want to give our best in the next games.”
