Ikeme’s shocking retirement from the game was announced by the keeper’s club Wolverhampton Wanderers on
Friday afternoon which has led to colleagues and friends paying their tribute.

Omeruo played along with Ikeme during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers.

“I would have love to be with you more my bro @Carl_Ikeme .. but am happy you will be with us in good
health.. you are a legend bro.. and am sure Nigerians will miss seeing you… @omeruo22.

Ikeme was the 24th player in the Super Eagles team to the 2018 FIFA World Cup as announced by head
coach Gernot Rohr.

Only last month he announced he was in complete remission from the disease after “a tough year and
intense chemotherapy, but after due consultations with medical experts, he has decided to call time on
his career.
