Onazi to captain, Uzoho, Balogun start against Congo DR

Ogenyi Onazi will be handed the captain’s armband in place of John Mikel Obi for this evening’s
international friendly against Congo DR at the Adokiye Amiesiemaka stadium in Portharcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The duo of Mikel and Odion Ighalo are being rested for Saturday’s friendly against England.

Head coach Gernot Rohr has picked Deportivo de La Coruña goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho in goal, while
William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun will be the centre-backs with Elderson Echiejile, manning the
left back and Tyrone Ebuehi at the right back.

In the midfield are Oghenekaro Etebo and Joel Obi with Kelechi Iheanacho, Junior Lokosa and Simeon Nwankwo playingupfront.

Recalled that Rohr has planned to use the game to pick his final three that will complete his 23-man
final list after announcing that he has already picked his 20 players before the friendly.

kick-off time is 5pm.
