Onuachu wants to play in Premier League reveals Genk director

Dream of Belgium Goal King, Paul Onuachu, is to play in the Premier League in England, according to the sporting director of his club Genk.

“Paul’s dream is to play in the Premier League, but it didn’t happen,” Genk sporting director Dimitri De Conde said in an interview.

The top scorer of the Belgian Jupiler Pro League last season was linked to several Premier League clubs this summer and he himself had picked Arsenal as his favourite club in the English top flight.

He further revealed that the club and the striker had even reached an agreement to co-operate for a transfer, but in the end, nothing came out of it.

De Conde said Genk are not disappointed Onuachu did not make the big transfer.

“We must be very satisfied. We are surprised that everyone has stayed on board,” he said.

“And to be honest we as a club should certainly not be sad about that.”

Meanwhile,Onuachu is not disappointed that he eventually did not make the big transfer he was widely expected to do after his record number of goals last season.

Genk sporting director Dimitri De Conde said Onuachu and the other players who did not move in the summer are happy to stay and play for the Belgian club.

“Their wish to leave was only a personal ambition and never had anything to do with Genk itself. They are still very satisfied with the club and happy to play here,” De Conde said.

The top official admitted he was also surprised Onuachu did not move as widely expected.

“It was also very surprising for me. If you had asked me if everyone would stay on board, I would have said no,” he said.
