Osayi-Samuel advised to consider EPL or La Liga move
Former Nigerian international Gbenga Okunowo has advised Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel to carefully weigh his options before deciding on his next club this summer.
The Fenerbahçe star has attracted interest from several Premier League sides, with Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, and Brentford all reportedly monitoring his situation.
Speaking to Africa Foot, Okunowo — who once played for Barcelona — expressed his belief that Osayi-Samuel has outgrown the Turkish Super Lig and is ready for a new challenge in one of Europe’s top leagues.
“In my opinion, he has surpassed the level of the Turkish league,” Okunowo said. “I think there are many opportunities he could explore, and this is where he should focus his efforts.”
While acknowledging the stature of Fenerbahçe and their world-class coach José Mourinho, Okunowo suggested that Osayi-Samuel’s time at the club has run its course.

“With all due respect to Fenerbahçe, which is currently led by a world-class coach like José Mourinho, I believe he has already given a lot to the club and it is time for him to move on. Moving to Galatasaray, a rival club in the same league, could even tarnish his legacy,” he added.
The former defender also highlighted the Nigerian star’s versatility, noting that his ability to contribute both defensively and offensively would make him a valuable asset for clubs in the Premier League, La Liga, or Serie A.
“He’s a solid defender, capable of contributing offensively. And that works in his favour: his contract is out. But, ultimately, the decision is his,” Okunowo concluded.
