Oshoala: My dream is to win FIFA Women Footballer of The Year

Super Falcons and Dalaian Quanjian forward Asisat Oshoala has predicted that the senior women national team will reach the semi finall stage of next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup billed for June in France despite the below average performance at the just concluded AWCON in Ghana.

Oshoala who spoke to Sportinglife.ng in Abuja, said the players have resolved not to under rate any team in future competitions to avoid unwarranted embarrassment almost suffered in the hands of Cameroon and South Africa.

” I know is going to be tough at the World Cup but one good thing is that most of the players we are going to meet at the world stage are our team mates at club level and with prayers we will get to the semi final. I am also happy that other two representatives from Africa , South Africa and Cameroon will equally make Africa proud. We (Super Falcons) have experienced players and playing outside Nigeria has equally improved our games”.

She also described Cameroon and South Africa as emerging female football power houses in Africa and tasked the NFF to come up with programmes to develop female football in the country.

Oshoala described South Africa final as the most difficult game of the tournament as she could not believe not finding the back of the net for 90 minutes including extra added time.

” I can’t believe myself not scoring a single goal against South Africa and Cameroon for a duration of 90 minutes. We have to rely on penalties to win the trophy. Well thank God that we are still the African Champion. I was also shocked that I was not listed for the best Africa eleven of the tournament. I need to work harder because my target is the win Fifa women footballer of the year, said Oshoala
