Osimhen back in training, may be unleashed against Bologna Sunday

 

Super Eagles and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen returned to train with the group today, as the Partenopei prepare for the match against Bologna on Sunday.

The Azzurri confirmed the Nigerian striker, who suffered a head injury in the 4-2 defeat to Atalanta, has returned to full training with the rest of his teammates today.

Neurosurgeon Alfredo Bucciero confirmed the former LOSC Lille forward can be called up for this weekend’s match.

“He can be called up,” Bucciero told Radio Punto Nuovo. “[Coach Gennaro] Gattuso and [doctor Raffaele] Canonico must decide.

“As far as I’m concerned, from a clinical point of view, there are no problems. I asked him to dedicate a goal to me.”

Should the former Lille ace feature against Bologna it will be an indication that he indeed good to go not only for the club but also for country assignment.  Super Eagles are in for a double header against Benin Republic and Lesotho in the CAF AFCON qualifiers.

The Gernot Rohr tutored side will take on Benin on March 27th at the

Charles de Gaulle Stadium Porto Novo, followed by a clash with Lesotho at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on March 30.

Further information from the Nigerian football house indicate that players will be expected to arrive the country by March 22nd.

There are strong indications that it is not only the coaching crew of Napoli that will be monitoring how Osimhen performs on Sunday, the Eagles technical crew will equally be at the observation post.
