Osimhen opens Serie A goal account in Napoli’s bashing of Udinese

Victor Osimhen opened his Serie A account this season in Napoli’s 4-0 win against Udinese at the Stadio Friuli on Monday night to climb to the top of the table.

Osimhen opened the scoring after just 24 minutes, but Napoli’s goal was all about Lorenzo Insigne.

The Azzurri captain sprinted down the left flank and beat Marco Silvestri with a lob, but Osimhen helped it in, touching the ball just before it crossed the line.

Luciano Spalletti’s side made it look so easy despite facing an unbeaten team before tonight’s meeting.

Fabian Ruiz hit the post with a sided-foot effort from long range. Amir Rahmani doubled the Partenopei’s lead just before the break heading the ball inside an empty net from a corner kick action.

The Azzurri dominated the game, creating even more goal-scoring opportunities in the second half.

Koulibaly had a shot saved by Silvestri before finding the net from another set-piece.

Insigne put the cross in, Fabian Ruiz found the defender in the space so Koulibaly could score a scorcher at the far post.

Silvestri prevented André Zambo Anguissa from scoring his first goal in a Napoli shirt and Hirving Lozano finished the job for the Azzurri with a curler from inside the box into the far post.

There was time for a chance for Udinese, but David Ospina palmed Ignacio Pussetto’s shot wide.

For the first time in their history, Napoli won the first four Serie A games. They will travel to the Stadio Ferraris to face Genoa on Thursday before hosting Walter Mazzarri’s Cagliari on Sunday.
