Osimhen to undergo further assessment

Injured Victor Osimhen has been released from the hospital but he will still be undergoing further medical check-ups, according to Napoli.

The Nigeria international was rushed to hospital after losing consciousness in the stoppages of Atalanta-Napoli on Sunday.

“The club and doctor Canonico would like to thank the Atalanta medical staff, the resuscitation team at Gewiss Stadium and the A&E staff at the Papa Giovanni XXIII hospital for their professionalism. The player will be undergoing further assessment.”

The Azzurri trained in Castelvolturno.

“The Azzurri are now preparing for the return leg of their Europa League last-32 tie with Granada, a 18:55 CET kick-off at the Stadio Maradona on Thursday.

“The squad was split into two groups for session. Those who started the game in Bergamo did recovery work in the gym while the others warmed up with some rondos then did passing and possession drills before finishing with a match on a small pitch.

“Elseid Hysaj, David Ospina and Diego Demme continued with their individual programmes out on the pitch. Andrea Petagna had physio and did personalised work in the gym. Hirving Lozano had physio.

“Dries Mertens underwent isokinetic testing after returning from Belgium, then worked separately on the pitch and in the gym. His return to group training will be assessed over the coming days.”
