Our match against Falcons a must win  – France Coach

France coach Corinne Diacre is still targetting another three points when they face Nigeria in their last group match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup next Monday in Rennes.

She has however charged her players to remain focused against the Africa champions who she knows would give them a tough challenge after they bounced back against Korea Republic with a win on Wednesday.

It was the Falcons first win since the 2011 edition in Germany where they defeated Canada by a lone goal in their last group match.

”Norway gave us a hard time, Nigeria will probably do the same. For the time being, now we are just going to stay put and fight hard to win that match against Nigeria,” she said.

In the meantime Diacre revealed she was not thinking of Nigeria but in the coming days would sit down with her technical team on how to approach the match.

“As far as Nigeria team is concerned, I’m just looking at one match after another so I haven’t thought yet about anything concrete on Nigeria.

”I am going to relax, think about it tomorrow, then we will reflect on things – what we can do, who may stay on the bench because we did have some injuries and let them recover,” she said at the post-match conference after the Norway match which they won 2-1.

They now have six points from two matches to top Group A.
