Ovie  Ejaria  hasty in Liverpool return says Steven Gerrard

Former Nigeria U17 invitee Ovie Ejaria may have been singing Hosanna in the highest following cut short loan deal and return to parent club Liverpool, but Rangers manager and Liverpool great Steven Gerrard believes the decision is not the best for the 21 year old.

According to Gerrard who scored 120 goals for Liverpool in over 504 appearances, Rangers provided a very fertile ground for the young Nigerian to showcase his skill and develop.

“Do I think it was a right decision? No because I think he had and incredible opportunity here. But I’m never going to stand on a player’s way who is not happy and who is not settled because I have people who are desperate to wear the shirt and who would run through brink walls to wear it” he said

Liverpool have confirmed Ejaria’s return earlier than necessary to the Anfield.

The initial agreement between Liverpool and Rangers would have kept Ejaria in Scotland until the end of the 2018/2019 season. The club said decision to cut the loan deal short was taken after clubs as well as Ejara and his family agreed.

“Following discussions between the two clubs, as well as Ejaria and his family, it has been determined an early return to the Reds is in the best interests of all parties concerned.” Liverpool said

Ejaria made 28 appearances for Rangers scoring two goals. While the two clubs may have explained the reason for the cut short deal additional reasons according to media report say it may not be unconnected with Ejaria’s claim that the Scottish football is too physical for his liking, even as some analysts predict that he might need to back his return with a lot of prayers if he is to break into the Liverpool squad that is currently compact and enjoying a smooth sail.
