Peseiro angry with ‘lazy’ Super Eagles’ start in Ecuador defeat
Super Eagles head Coach Jose Peseiro was visibly unhappy with the team’s slow start in the defeat to Ecuador in their friendly match on Friday morning in the U.S.
For the second time in four days, Nigeria conceded an early goal when Ecuador defender, Pervis Estupinan, headed home from a free-kick inside the opening three minutes of play.
FT: ECU 1-0 NGA. Intense game from the boys, lots of positives to be taken from this match. The stats say it all. Time to focus on the 2023 AFCONQ. #SoarSuperEagles pic.twitter.com/owE2D1Z4I5

The goal woke the Nigerian team but the team wasted several good opportunities and Ecuador held on for a nervy win.
Speaking after the game, Peseiro was furious with the team’s attitude and level of concentration during the opening minutes of the encounter.

“We have players that can control, move and command the game, but we didn’t in the first 15 minutes against Ecuador,” the Super Eagles coach remarked on his team’s performance.
However, Peseiro would be hoping to get his first victory as a coach of Nigeria, when they kick start the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next week against Sierra Leone.
