Plateau United places players, officials on half salary

Follwing Plateau United’s surprise 1-0 loss to newcomers, Kada City Stars in a matchday 19 fixtures of the Nigeria Professional Football League played at the New Jos Stadium on Wednesday, the club management has invoked the no work, no pay rule on the players.

Sportinglife.ng learnt that the General Manager of the Club, Pius Henwan, who addressed the players and technical crew at the team’s training ground on Thursday, explained that both the players and technical crew will be placed on half salary pending when results improve.

He lamented that despite management commitment in ensuring the prompt payment of their salaries and other entitlements, the players are not reciprocating that gesture.

The general manager, who expressed displeasure with the team lacklustre against Kada City Stars noted that the team must recoup the points lost at home by winning their next match away at Umuahia or at least pick a point.

Henwan disclosed that management has started taking stock of the players performance and anyone who does not justify his place in the team will be shown the way out at the end of the first round.

He challenged the players to brace up for the task ahead regretting that Wednesday defeat has put the team in a tight situation which requires immediate response.

While appealing to the players to show more commitment, hard work and dedication to the goals and objectives of the team this season, the Henwan appealed to them to raise their game in order to realize their target.
