Plateau United to unveil Maikaba as new coach today

The management of Plateau United of Jos will officially unveil Abdu Maikaba as the club’s technical adviser today ahead of the forthcoming Nigeria Professional football League (NPFL).

SportingLife gathered that the former Akwa United manager arrived in Jos yesterday afternoon for today’s ceremony.

Maikaba is expected to replace Kennedy Boboye who was in charge of the team for two seasons. Boboye guided the Jos-based side to 2016/2017 league title.

Maikaba left Akwa United after the expiration of his contract at the end of the just concluded 2017/18 season, where the team finished second with 41 points from 24 games before the league was put to stop.

The former Wikki Tourists gaffer guided Akwa United to their first Aiteo Cup title last season.

A top club official also revealed to SportingLife that Maikaba’s salary would be more than what the club pay its former coach Boboye when he was in charge of the team.

SportingLife reports that the players will resume training on Monday to start preparation for the new season and the new coach will be officially introduce to the players during their first training session on Monday.
