British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has hailed Three Lions performance in the Euro 2020 final despite defeat by the Azzuris of Italy.
The Harry Kane captained side according to him played like heroes. “England played like heroes adding They have done the nation proud and deserve great credit.’
The Three Lions started well with Shaw’s stunning early goal, the fastest ever in a European final. It was however Leonardo Bonucci who spoiled the celebration with his 67th minute equaliser leaving the Three Lions hanging on until extra time.
The penalty shootout that followed after the extra time turned out to be a nightmare for the Three Lions. Nineteen-year-old Bukayo Saka wept uncontrollably and was consoled by Southgate after missing penalty.
Many however say that Saka like most of the players gave their all to the Championship despite eventual defeat on Sunday night.
Tears flowed along Wembley way after the heartbreaking finish to go along with the despair of thousands of fans who ended up locked out of the stadium.
