Praet could leave Leicester City this summer

Dennis Praet could leave Leicester City during this summer’s transfer window.

Praet is currently on international duty with Belgium at Euro 2020 but found his first-team chances at Leicester limited during the 2020-21 season.

The midfielder did have a spell out injured but on return to full fitness, struggled to break into Brendan Rodgers’ starting line-up.

The Athletic reports that Praet has grown frustrated at his lack of action at club level and will be “looking at his options” following the Euros.

The report adds that Leicester may be willing to let him leave the King Power Stadium if they receive an “acceptable offer”.

Speaking last month, Praet said: “It is of course not easy to fight back into a team that is doing quite well. In the past few weeks I didn’t get much playing time.

“Of course, that’s always a shame and painful for a football player, because you just want to play.”

Leicester are set to add to their midfield options with the signing of Boubakary Soumare from Lille.

And they are also hoping to keep hold of Praet’s Belgian counterpart Youri Tielemans, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Arsenal have previously held an interest in Praet and football.london have named him as a “perfect candidate” in boss Mikel Arteta’s search for a creative midfielder this summer.

Praet was apparently offered a tour of the Gunners’ training ground as a 15-year-old before opting to sign for Anderlecht in his homeland.

He was later linked again with Arsenal in 2019 but ended up sealing a move to Leicester from Sampdoria for a reported fee of £18million.

Praet still has three years left to run on his current contract.

To date, he has made 64 appearances for City in all competitions – 25 of them as a substitute.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are also said to be interested in signing Leicester playmaker James Maddison.

However, it is understood that the Foxes would only consider selling the international for a huge fee – and only if he expressed a desire to move on.
