PSG intensify talks for Sergio Ramos as two other teams keep vigil

Paris Saint-Germain are determined to try and land Sergio Ramos on a free, once his contract at Real Madrid comes to an end on June 30.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez made clear that Los Blancos wanted to keep hold of their captain, but by the time he came to accept their offer of a one-year contract extension, it was too late.

Now, according to L’Equipe, talks between Ramos’ camp and PSG have intensified in the last few days, with the two sides not too far away from reaching an agreement.

However, as was the case with Real Madrid, Ramos’ desire for a two-year contract has been a stumbling block.

PSG had initially offered the 35-year-old a one-year deal, but he is adamant that he wants to sign a contract that will keep him at his next club for the next two seasons.

The Parisians are not the only ones interested in signing Ramos, though, as MARCA understand that there are two other clubs keen on securing the services of the soon-to-be free agent.

The French newspaper L’Equipe claim that an agreement between PSG and Ramos could be reached for a one-year deal with the option for a second, with there not having been any issues in terms of the financial side of things.

PSG sporting director Leonardo is determined to bring Ramos to the Parc des Princes, but he has made clear to the Spaniard that he is not assured of a spot in the starting line-up, as he will have to fight Presnel Kimpembe and Marquinhos for a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Ramos will officially become a free agent tomorrow (June 30), but he already had his farewell ceremony at Real Madrid back on June 17.

There have been plenty of rumours about Ramos’ future, but it seems increasingly likely that his next club will be PSG.
