PSL: Super Eagles goalkeeper gets Player of the Month award
...Vows to always give his best
Rave of the moment, Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi, has promised to always give his best to his club and the country after he was voted the Player of the Month in the South Africa league.
It was a double joy for the Super Eagles goal tender as he was overwhelmed with excitement when he heard that Nigeria had also moved up in the latest FIFA rankings.
The Nigerian keeper was part of Nigeria’s back-to-back victorious outings in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic and Lesotho recently.

Thursday’s was the ABSA Premiership’s monthly award day and it emerged that a goalkeeper was the last four week’s best footballer in the land.
“It is (award) a big surprise to me but it also shows the importance of putting effort forward in whatever you do,” Akpeyi said at the press conference.
“I give credit to the technical team who have been patient with me. I’m settling in, I’m taking each game as it comes. Khune is a good keeper, I’m just grateful for the opportunity from the coach. It’s a healthy competition in that department (keeper). I’m just happy to be improving all the time,” he added.
Ever the superbly gracious professitional, the 33-year-old goalie also took the moment to recognize the club’s injured number one Itumeleng Khune.

Meanwhile, Akpeyi’s Chiefs look on course to win the 2019/20 title. With 10 points clear at the top, Amakhosi will be next in action against midtable drifters Bloemfontein Celtic on 7 December.
