Ramos willing to take a pay cut to stay at Real

Sergio Ramos has indicated he would be willing to take a pay cut to stay at Real Madrid – but only if he is able to secure a two-year contract, according to Spanish newspaper ABC.

Real – like many clubs – have a policy of only offering one-year contracts to players over a certain age, with Ramos recently turning 35.

But the Real captain has told the club he wants a two-year deal if he is going to reduce his £315,000-a-week wages, with the La Liga champions said to be asking players to take a 10 per cent cut due to the club’s financial situation.

Ramos’ contract is due to expire in the summer and he is likely to have offers, although it is unclear whether anyone would be willing to match his existing high wages.
