Rangers count blessings as ‘Chairman’ Chukwu’s daughter weds

 

Federation cup winners Rangers international had another reason to count blessings as the club’s icon and former Super Eagles Coach Christian Chukwu gave his daughter’s hand in a traditional wedding Saturday.

The occasion according to the club is not only worthy of celebration for the Chukwus’ family but indeed for the Rangers family.

Taking to the social media the club said “Praises be to God Almighty as our Icon, Christian Chukwuemeka Chukwu, MFR, gives out her daughter’s hand in marriage today in a well-attended traditional marriage ceremony at his Obe ancestral home”

Sportinglife.ng gathered that the event was attended by creme dela creme of the society.

Chairman, as Christian Chukwu was fondly called during his playing days did not only play for Rangers but also captained and coached the team.

The former Super Eagles coach  who became the first Nigerian captain to lift the African Nations Cup trophy after a 3-0 victory over Algeria in the final of the 1980 tournament also coached Lebanon and Harambee stars of Kenya respectively.

Hard fighting Rangers otherwise called the Flying Antelopes or Coal City Boys came from behind to edge out Kano Pillars in the Federation cup.

Pillars had taken strong control of the match decided at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba, with a massive three goal lead, but the flying Antelopes made a dramatic come back to equalise leaving the score line at 3-3  in  the end.

The penalty shootout that followed saw Rangers carry the day 4-2 thus clinching the ticket to represent Nigeria in the Confederation cup.
