Rangers duo fit for Salitas tie

Enugu Rangers have had mixed feelings regarding some of their players that are on the treatment table ahead of their all-important CAF Confederation Cup tie against Salitas of Burkina Faso slated for Sunday in Ouagadougou.

The Flying Antelopes were thoroughly beaten 2-0 at home by Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia in a Matchday Four tie last weekend and team’s head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote partially blamed the defeat on theunavailability of four of his regular players for the tie.

Bobby Clement, Ifeanyi George, Semiu Liadi and Pape Ousmane Sane were the four players that were absent from the tie but while George, Liadi, and Sane have resumed training ahead of the tie and are in pole position to be picked for the trip to Burkina Faso, Clement is not so lucky and it is believed that he won’t be part of the game with Salitas.

SportingLife gathered that Clement is yet to recover from the ankle injury he sustained against Wikki Tourists in the last league game they played before their trip to Tunisia for the first leg with Etoile du Sahel in Sousse and that even though the striker made the list he was unable to play and he was also missing when the return leg was played in Enugu last weekend.

Liadi did not cop any injury but missed the home tie with Etoile du Sahel because he was ineligible to play the game because of the two yellow cards he got in their previous matches and he is available for selection now while George and Sane have overcome their injury worries and are available for the game in Burkina Faso if they are selected by coach Ogunbote.

Enugu Rangers are third in the CAF Confederation Cup Group B with four points from four games but a loss in Ouagadougou will definitely extinguish their hope of qualifying for the quarter-final stage of the second-tier club competition.
