RB Leipzig whizkid Gvardiol reveals desire to join Liverpool

RB Leipzig centre-back Joško Gvardiol has revealed his love for Liverpool.

The 19-year-old was signed by Leipzig for £16m last summer and immediately loaned back to boyhood club Dinamo Zagreb.

Gvardiol will play for Croatia against England in the Euros on Sunday, and speaking before the game, has revealed his affection for the Merseyside giants.

He explained to Croatian outlet 24 Sata: “From a young age, I watched Liverpool games with my dad.

“When I took football more seriously, I started following them, and I definitely want the Premiership and Liverpool.”

It is doubtful Liverpool would pursue a move for Gvardiol this summer.

But there is no doubt his comments will be noted for any future pursuit.

Jurgen Klopp’s first signing of the summer was Leipzig centre-back Ibrahima Konate.

The Frenchman will be joined by Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, who all are returning from long-term injury.
