Real Madrid 2-1 Viktoria Plzen: Benzema, Marcelo on target at Bernabeu

Real Madrid fans booed their players despite the Champions League victory over Viktoria Plzen.

Los Blancos went into the clash on a dismal run of form with the pressure firmly on boss Julen Lopetegui.

Goals from Karim Benzema and Marcelo secured the victory but it did little to convince the Bernabeu faithful.

Benzema opened the scoring early on as he headed in from Lucas Vasquez’s cross to join an exclusive Champions League club.

The Frenchman has now scored in 14 successive seasons – alongside Lionel Messi and Raul.

A deft finish from Marcelo doubled the lead for the hosts before Patrik Hrosovsky gave Plzen late hope.
