Real Madrid shifts to  Salah as Mbappe alternative

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants the club to move for Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah if a deal for Kylian Mbappe cannot be struck.

Mbappe is yet to agree to a new deal at Paris Saint-Germain and is due to become a free agent in under 12 months’ time, but there are fears that Real Madrid could still be priced out of a move.

However, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is reportedly intent on bringing a new forward to the Spanish capital this summer, meaning that alternatives to Mbappe must be sought.

Salah has previously refused to rule out a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona, and Fichajes claims that Ancelotti wants to bring the Egyptian attacker to the club this summer.

The 29-year-old is thought to be in talks over extending his Anfield contract – which expires in 2023 – but Liverpool are said to be considering a swoop for Italian right-winger Domenico Berardi.

Salah ended the 2020-21 campaign with 31 goals and six assists to his name from all competitions, but Liverpool refused to let him link up with the Egypt squad for the Tokyo Olympics.
