Recuperating Tiger Responds following overwhelming tributes

Tiger Woods has responded with a heartfelt message after some of the world’s best golfers paid tribute to him following his horror car crash

Golf stars including Rory McIlory and Tommy Fleetwood wore Woods’ trademark red shirt and black trousers on the final day of the WGC-Workday Championship in Florida on Sunday.

The 15-times Major winner famously wears his ‘Sunday red’ on the final day of tournaments after his mum told him it was his ‘power colour’.

Players including Jason Day, Tony Finau, Sebastian Munoz and Patrick Reed also emulated Woods’ style, after he suffered serious leg injuries which threaten to end his trophy-laden career.

Woods said he was “touched” by the tribute, and claimed the support of his fellow competitors was helping him as he faces his toughest battle yet.

“It is hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the TV and saw all the red shirts,” Woods said on Twitter post shortly after the conclusion of the World Golf Championships event in Florida.

“To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time.”

Woods suffered a a fractured right leg and a shattered ankle in a car accident in Los Angeles County last Tuesday.

He is currently being treated at LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, which is known for rehabbing athletes.

Sunday’s World Golf Championships event was won by 24-year-old Collin Morikawa, who fittingly emulated one of Woods’ achievements.

With his win, Morikawa joined Woods as the only other golfer to have won a major championship and a World Golf Championship event before turning 25 years old.
