Red Devils likely to sign Denis Zakaria for exciting midfield

Manchester United are interested in signing Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach, according to a report which was published by The Sun.

The Red Devils are quite evidently not a major force to be reckoned with in the Premier League at the moment.

There is a gulf in class between United and the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is not to blame for the situation of the Old Trafford giants.

The United boss has opted to buy young talent and the three signings which he made last summer – Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan Bissaka – have so far been solid this season.

Many will feel that the Red Devils need to sign a new quality defensive midfielder.

At 31-years-old Nemanja Matic has been struggling for consistency and it seems as though his best days are behind him.

The 22-year-old Man United target Zakaria is a quality up and coming talent from the Bundesliga.

He has so far played nine times in the German top-flight for his side this season and found the back of the net twice.

Zakaria would fit Solskjaer’s target market. The United manager prefers to sign players who are in their early 20’s and who have yet to hit the peak of his career.

The Red Devils could however face a difficult task to sign Zakaria if they fail to qualify for next seasons Champions League as the enforcer will be in demand.

United have not replaced Ander Herrera, who left in the summer to join Paris Saint-Germain, and the Bundesliga star could be an ideal successor.
