Retired Sergio Aguero showcases tennis skills

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero has made his return to sport, but he won’t be looking to hit the net this time.

The 33-year-old took to Instagram on Monday night to post a video of himself playing a game of tennis with a friend on a clay court in South America.

Aguero captioned the video ‘training’ as a hint that there could be more to come from him on the tennis court.

The video is the first glimpse into Aguero’s athletic life post-football and the Argentinian showed off a fierce backhand that had his opponent struggling to return it inside the baseline.

Aguero enjoyed 10 sensational years at Man City, winning five league titles and becoming the Sky Blue’s record all-time top goal scorer.

In the 2014-15 season he was awarded the Premier League Golden Boot and is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to ever play in the English top flight.

Aguero, after moving from City to Barcelona on a two-year contract in the summer, suffered chest pains during his first start for the Spanish against Alaves in October.

After being ruled out for three months with heart arrhythmia, Aguero emotionally announced that he was being forced to retire from football in December 2021 after playing just 165 minutes for the LaLiga giants.

Aguero revealed that he had been diagnosed with a heart condition and that he had been advised by his medical team that ‘the best thing would be to stop playing.’

In his retirement statement last month, Aguero said: ‘Retiring under these circumstances is difficult, but life comes first  I’ve known that from the start.’
