Revealed: Man Utd approached Zidane – on Ronaldo’s recommendation

Zinedine Zidane has turned down an approach from Manchester United.

The former Real Madrid coach was sounded out last week by United intermediaries about replacing manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That’s according to Okdiario’s chief football pundit Eduardo Inda, when speaking on El Chiringuito.

“Zidane can have the team he wants,” said Inda. “It is an option that has occurred in the national team stoppage.

“I already said that PSG had approached him, they have always wanted him. Newcastle also wanted him, but in the national team break he had a call from Manchester United to replace Solskjaer.

“The person who would sponsor him and who has recommended him to the board is Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Zidane said no because his dream is to coach France and they have offered him double what he earned at Real Madrid. He tells everyone that his big dream is to coach the French team, but I see it complicated because it would have to be after Qatar.

“At United he would be the highest paid coach along with (Diego) Simeone (of Atletico Madrid).”
