Rivers United suspend two stars for unprofessional conduct
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) campaigners Rivers United have announced indefinite suspension of Theophilus Afelokhai and Ifeanyi Anaemena for what the club describes as “unethical & unprofessional sportsman conduct”.
Both players got the hook after Rivers United were thumped 3-0 by Akwa United at the weekend in an NPFL match.
A statement on the club’s twitter on Monday, March 1, confirmed the decision.
“The management of Rivers United FC has handed Theophilus Afelokai and Ifeanyi Anaemena an indefinite suspension for unethical & unprofessional sportsman conduct.”
Interestingly, Afelokhai and Anaemena joined the Rivers state-owned outfit from Enyimba last year.
