ROHR: Eagles waiting for FIFA’s approval for September Friendlies

Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has told SPORTINGLIFE that he and his employers the Nigeria Football Federation are waiting for the approval of football governing body, FIFA  for the two friendly games proposed for next month in Austria.
The Franco-German football tactician said that it would be very conducive and easy for the release of the players from their clubs if FIFA eventually sanctions the dates.
He corrected the impression that it is the job of the NFF to secure the release of players for the matches and not him.
He also told SPORTINGLIFE that he has been monitoring the Super Eagles stars and has compiled the list of the players to be invited.
“We are waiting for the official decision of FIFA if this window in the first week of September is an obligation for the club’s to let go (release) the players we will invite. So this is not my job it’s an administrative thing. So we are waiting for that.
“We have to wait for traveling restrictions to be lifted in all the countries our players that would be invited are playing.

“Then there is an obligation before you can travel which is the COVID-19 testing which must be negative before any player can board a plane. So the most important thing and the final step are answers coming from FIFA and the NFF”, Rohr told SPORTINGLIFE in an exclusive chat.
