...Ajiboye, Lokosa, Agbo dropped

Bulgaria based defender Stephen Eze has expressed his disappointment after he was informed by Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr that he has been dropped for the FIFA World Cup.

Bulgaria based defender Stephen Eze has expressed his disappointment after he was informed by Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr that he has been dropped for the FIFA World Cup. Also dropped by Rohr are Junior Lokosa, Uche Agbo and goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye

Only 24 players will make the trip to London for Saturday’s friendly against England.  Victor Moses who is the 25th player will join the team at their Wembley Hilton Hotel tomorrow morning.

After the friendly, two more players will be axed, with the 23 left making the final squad.

Eze, who caught Rohr’s attention after the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco in January confirmed the development on his Twitter handle on Wednesday morning.

@DefendLikeEze. Sadly, my journey to #WorldCup ends here. I am disappointed to not make the final squad, but I want to thank our coach & management for the opportunity! I wish my team the best & hope to join in celebrations when they bring the trophy home! GO #NIGERIA 🇳🇬⚽! #DefendLikeEze.

After the CHAN tournament, Rohr invited Eze for the Eagles international friendlies against Serbia and Poland in March even though he did not get to play.

The possibility of the players  making the team were slim since they were not part of the farewell match against Congo DR on Monday which Rohr used to pick his his final three players to complete his 23-man list.

Recalled last Friday Rohr told the media in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom capital that he had picked his 20 players for the World Cup even though he declined to mention their names.
