Rohr: I will hang my medal in my house in France 

Super Eagles head coach Genort Rohr has reiterated the importance of winning a bronze medal at the Africa Cup of

Nations as he said that he will hang the medal in his house in France.

Super Eagles of Nigeria won the bronze medal after beating Tunisia 1-0 in the third-place encounter on Wednesday at the Al

Salam Stadium, Cairo, Egypt.

The bronze medal is the first-ever medal for Rohr since he started managing African national teams.

The German coach had managed Gabon, Niger Republic, and Burkina Faso before taking up Nigeria job.

In a chat with SportingLife.ng, Rohr said that it was not an easy task to win a bronze medal from the competition with 24

teams.

“Winning the AFCON bronze medal from competition from 24 teams is not easy. We had to win five games, that’s what we did. But unfortunately, it was not the final but it is better to lose little final than to lose a big final. It is very important to win it. I will hang it at home in my house in France,” Rohr told SportingLife.ng.

The former Burkina Faso manager said it took extra efforts to motivate the players for the third-place match against Tunisia after the semi-final loss to Algeria.

“It was a losers’ final. It was not easy to be motivated after the semi-final defeat but the players were really committed and want to bring something back for their family which is a bronze medal,” he added.

Rohr praised the Egyptian fans for their support to Nigeria throughout the tournament.

“From Alexandria to Cairo, these fans always come to our hotel with good hospitality. We have enjoyed a good working relationship with the  people of Egypt and we will leave this country with a wonderful souvenir.”
