Rohr: I won’t experiment with Seychelles match

Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has asserted that he does not plan to experiment with his squad for the final game of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Seychelles even though it is a dead rubber fixture.

The Eagles are already through to the AFCON competition slated for Cameroon next year as the draw earned in Johannesburg against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa last weekend was sufficient to return them to the competition they last featured in 2013.

There have been calls from football purists that the German should use the fixture with Seychelles to see other players that have not been given a chance to lay their claim for a place in the team including much overlooked Nigeria Professional Football League players.

But Rohr in his reply said that the game in March against Seychelles is very dear to him with the AFCON competition only three months away and the fixture being the final game before the commencement of the camping for the competition proper.

He said he would call up players who are very active for their clubs and are crucial to his team preparations for the AFCON and that he won’t be cowed into calling up players who they are yet to look at properly be it in the NPFL or in Europe.
