Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is already targeting victory against Argentina in their last Group D game of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup next Tuesday after the team’s overall performance against Iceland which resulted in a 2-0 win.
The win on Friday catapulted the Eagles to the second position on the group with three points behind leaders Croatia who have six points from two matches. A win against Argentina will qualify Nigeria for the round of 16.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Rohr heaped praises on his players for playing as a unit.
“What I like in my young team is humility, solidarity and fighting spirit,” Rohr said.
“I thought before this World Cup we were here to learn. I think this team will be ready in 2022 and this World Cup is coming early, but we have a good chance to win against Argentina.”
Ahmed Musa was the hero for the Eagles as he struck twice.
Argentina are left with a point after drawing with Iceland and losing 3-0 to Croatia on Thursday.
