Except for last minute change of heart, German tactician, Gernot Rohr will remain Super Eagles manager, irrespective of the country’s first round exit at the Russia 2018 World Cup competition.

Sportinglife.ng confronted those who should know at the Glasshouse if Rohr’s contract would be terminated following the country’s exit from the Mundial on Tuesday with the 2-1 loss to Argentina, they chorused, ‘‘We are satisfied with what Rohr has done with the Eagles and would retain him because his rebuilding efforts are been appreciated by everyone here in Russia. The Argentines said these boys made them to suffer before they could win. They challenged us to keep these boys and rule the world in 2022. In a nutshell, Rohr stays and the boys are rooting for him. Big stars such as Didier Drogba, Austin Jay Jay Okocha et al are rooting for Rohr to remain to build on what he has started.’’

‘‘The Africa Cup of Nations’ qualifiers are in September, so, he has been charged to prosecute nigeria’s matches they way he did with the World Cup. A few uninspiring players would be dropped and new ones invited to replace them.’’

Interestingly, Rohr also wants to work with these current players stating that, ‘‘I want to stay with these boys. They are young and ready to work. I like the fact that they listen to instructions. They are disciplined and have a very bright future.’’

Rohr was grateful for assembling a group of young boys whose future is bright stressing that, ‘‘It is such a big disappointment that Nigeria is out of the Russia 2018 World Cup, because my team gave a good account of themselves. What was missing in this team was the experience which in the next four years will be a strong team to play against.’’
