Roller Skating National Championship: 20 athletes to represent Lagos Chapter

The Lagos State Rollers Sport Associations (LARSA) has decided to engage in a two day interstate/club competition for the skaters to prepare them for the championship taking place at the National Stadium in Abuja on the November 22 2018.

Just 20 skaters will be selected to represent the Lagos State chapter in Abuja as over 200 athletes between the age grade of 5-12years for children skaters, 13-17years for junior skaters, and 18 above for the male and female athletes will be participating in the competition in Lagos.

According to the Federation’s chairman, Technical committee, Kings Kedron who made the disclosure to The Nation in Lagos that:“The athletes are prepared as the federation also is prepared, we were able to put things together despite having no sponsors and all medical equipment, and venues are ready for the competition. It is a qualifying competition to select just 20 skaters who will go and represent us in Abuja next week. We have made sure the accreditations are free for every skater who is willing to take part in the tournament.”

“The competition will afford us the opportunity of assessing our skaters throughout the federation to see those that are outstanding in their performances.” He added.

The Head coach’s representatives, Mike Awom also said that: “The athletes have really tried in putting more hard work and full preparation towards this coming competition. We haven’t still received anything from anybody like donations and sponsorships but we are still holding the competition. I urge every athletes taking part in the competition that they shouldn’t give up to their best but strive hard to get to the top.” He said.

The first National Skating Championship will come along with the prize money of N100, 000 for the gold medal winner, N70, 000 for silver  and N50,000 for the bronze winner, the competition will kick start on the 17th April.
