Ronald Koeman begins Operation sweep at Nou Camp

Barca new boss Ronald Koeman may have flagged off operation sweep at the Nou camp with various reports Tuesday indicating he has served four regulars of the team the quit notice.

Koeman reportedly picked up the phone to tell four experienced stars that their Nou Camp careers were over.

Luis Suarez, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Samuel Umtiti were all contacted by the Dutchman saying they are not part of his restructuring plans.

The news hit the front of every major Spanish sports paper, with AS, Marca and Mundo Deportivo all focusing on Koeman’s big move, analysing the ramifications the decision could have for the club.

Marca illustrated the news by showing a dejected Suarez and Vidal heading through a door created in the heart of the Barcelona badge.

The publication suggests that the move to cull Suarez could have an impact on another star’s future.

They say that the decision to deliver the news to the Uruguayan could cause Lionel Messi to think even harder on his own future at the LaLiga giants.

Messi’s future is far from certain, and the departure of his close friend could swing the balance even further in the direction of the exit door.

AS provide a different angle with their front page, as they also focus on the handful of stars given a stay of execution by Koeman.

The 57-year-old will wait to see Philippe Coutinho in action during pre-season when he returns from his loan spell having just lifted the Champions League with Bayern Munich.

Likewise, the former Southampton and Everton boss will give Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba the chance to prove themselves worthy of a spot in his squad, too.
