Ronaldo gives Juventus quit notice

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Juventus: ‘They’ve broken up, but they are still living together.’

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ronaldo tasked his agent Jorge Mendes with the duty of finding a new club for the next season.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has ruled out a return to the Santiago Bernabeu, and Manchester United remain an option for the 36-year-old, who will see his contract expire in June 2022.

However, Ronaldo would need to lower his €31m-a-year salary if he wants to leave Juventus and a move outside Italy would force him to pay more taxes on incomes from sponsorship contracts.

In fact, the so-called ‘Growth decree’ allows him to pay just €100,000 taxes on any income from abroad.

According to the report, Ronaldo’s attitude has changed since Juventus faced Champions League elimination at Porto’s hands back in March.

Ronaldo has always had the tendency not to hang around with his teammates off the pitch, except Carlo Pinsoglio, and has enjoyed more freedom during training sessions than his teammates.

The Portuguese star has failed to score in the last three Serie A games and seemed selfless in Juventus’ 1-1 draw against Fiorentina last weekend.

‘It’s almost like Juventus and Ronaldo have broken up but are still living together,’ wrote La Gazzetta dello Sport.
