Ronaldo, Rodriguez donate money to help boy, 7, to treat cancer

Playing a generous couple, Cristiano Ronaldo and partner Georgina Rodriguez, have donated an unannounced amount of money to help fund a child’s cancer treatment.

Portuguese youngster Tomas, 7, was diagnosed with rare cancer neuroblastoma in September 2019.

After suffering a relapse in October last year, Tomas’ parents appealed to try and get funding for their brave child’s operations.

And it appears that Cristiano and Georgina have discreetly stepped up in the time of need.

A message, shared by Georgina’s sister Ivana, appears to confirm the star couple’s involvement.

It thanks ‘various people of great humanity’ for their generosity in the time of need.

And it goes on to add: “Thank you Georgina and Cristiano for your help, solidarity and great heart.

“Infinite thanks for helping us so that Tomas can access treatment.”

The brave seven-year-old has now checked in to D’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona for tests and oncology consultations.

Last March, as the coronavirus pandemic began to tear through Europe, Ronaldo and agent Jorge Mendes teamed up to donate £1million to help hospitals in their fight against the disease.

He is also an ambassador for Save the Children, Unicef and World Vision.

And in 2013, he donated his £89,000 Uefa Team of the Year bonus to the Red Cross.
