Ronaldo will stay at Juventus insists club vice-president Nedved

Cristiano Ronaldo will stay at Juventus, according to the club’s vice-president and former player Pavel Nedved, despite speculation suggesting he will leave Turin before the start of the new season.

Ronaldo, who is in the final year of his contract has been linked with moves to former clubs Manchester United and Real Madrid; whilst French giants Paris-Saint-Germain are also rumoured to be interested.

The 36-year-old was the top scorer in Serie A last season, scoring an impressive 29 goals and Nedved provided an update on his future after Juve beat Cesena 3-1 in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

‘Ronaldo will return to training on Monday and he will stay with us,’ Nedved told Sky Sport Italia.

Since signing for Juve in July 2018, only Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski (103) has bettered Ronaldo’s 73 goals across Europe’s top five leagues.

The Portugal star has won two Serie A titles and a Coppa Italia during his three seasons in Turin.

Meanwhile, Paulo Dybala is also in the final year of his deal, whilst Italy Euro 2020 hero Giorgio Chiellini is currently a free agent after his contract with Juve expired last month.

When quizzed about their respective futures, Nedved explained that the club were comfortable with the situation.

‘[Director Federico] Cherubini has already been in contact with his [Dybala’s] agent, who will arrive in Turin next week.

‘We are in good time to get the situation resolved, it’s not a problem.’

[On Chiellini] Nedved added: ‘When he returns from his vacation, then we can talk.’
