Ronaldo’s lawyers want Las Vegas rape case thrown out

 

Cristiano Ronaldo’s legal team has asked a federal court in the US to throw out a civil claim against him seeking damages over an alleged sexual assault.

Lawyers for the Portuguese striker claim Kathryn Mayorga’s legal team gave ‘stolen papers’ to police in Las Vegas who were investigating claims.

According to legal papers lodged at the United States District Court in the District of Nevada, Ronaldo’s lawyers want Ms Mayorga’s case dismissed over the conduct of her legal team.

Ms Mayorga wants to overturn an earlier settlement 12 years ago worth £375,000 and instead wants to sue the footballer for more than £56 million in damages and costs

Ronaldo strongly denies all allegations. His legal team wants the case dismissed and Ms Mayorga’s attorneys disqualified. Ronaldo also wants all sensitive information in legal documents associated with the case sealed

According to The Mirror, Ronaldo settled a case with Ms Mayorga 12 years ago for £375,000.

She then sought to overturn that original settlement in 2018 and is now seeking more than £56 million in damages and costs.

Ronaldo’s legal team wants Stovall and Associates, who represent Ms Mayorga, to be disqualified from the case. They claim Ms Mayorga’s lawyers approached a group of hackers seeking more documents and handed over data illegally secured by the Football Leaks website to Las Vegas police.
