Russia 2018: Lokosa, Ajiboye on Standby – Rohr

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has cleared the air on the status of the five players that were dropped from the team that traveled to London on Wednesday in continuation of its World Cup build-up against England in a friendly on Saturday.

According to the coach who is not comfortable with the media reports said the players have not been dropped, but are on standby to replace any of the 23 players that would make the final list in the event they are injured.

“No player was dropped. “The players we announced are being placed on the standby list since we can’t take everyone to Russia.”

“And remember, there could be some injury situation as it happened four years ago with Elderson Echiejile,” explained the coach.

Kano Pillars striker Junior lokosa, Standard Liege midfielder Uche Agbo, Dele Ajiboye and Stephen Eze are the players on the standby the list which is expected to increase to seven after the England friendly.
