Saka: Fear grips England over Nigeria’s plot to cap Arsenal youngster

Eggheads of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are continuing their attempts to entice Arsenal wonder-kid Bukayo Saka to switch allegiance from England, SportingLife reports.

According to a Daily Mail, the 18-year-old is in line to break into Gareth Southgate’s England squad following a string of excellent displays for the Gunners.

“He has represented England at junior level and currently plays for the Under 19 side but he is in line — at the very least — for a promotion to the Under 21s.

Saka has represented England at youth level but is yet to make a decision on his future

“Nigeria are prepared to fast-track the left-sided utility player into the senior set-up in the hope of persuading him to choose an international career with the Super Eagles,” the report read in part, even as it was quick to add that Nigeria’s plot to cap Saka will not likely see the light of the day soon, thanks to the long delay in international football due to coronavirus.

Interestingly, the Eagles are now expected to return to action in September, but eggheads of the Nigeria Football Federation will continue to press on for Saka, with the Arsenal youngster yet to make a final decision.

At the last count, Nigeria have successfully persuaded the likes of Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina and Victor Moses to switch allegiance from England.

On the other hand, Nigeria  failed in their bid to convincing Chelsea duo Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori earlier this campaign after both players committed their international futures to England’s Three Lions.
